August Newsletter

How else could we start this months’ newsletter without giving pride of place to Richard Gate for completing the Transcontinental 06 race.

The Transcontinental Race (TCR) is a self-supported, ultra distance bicycle race. A solo race or time-trial over 2,500 miles.

For those wanting to have an in depth account of this epic ride Richard will be hosting an evening at Adel War Memorial on Tues 30thOctober at 7.30pm.

His blog can be found with the following link

Well done that man ….. ALBA is proud of you.

What else has been happening this month …….

Tuesday Chain Gangs

Each Tuesday the club organises a chain gang from Adel to Addingham and back. A brilliant way to learn group riding skills and to also test yourselves both with and against some of the clubs quickest riders.

CX Event

Segment of the Week

This is simply put ‘a fast as you can segment’. We have one each week which this month included the challenging Black Hill (it does go by other names) – for some reason the name Jamie Tweddell keeps getting mentioned. Come on you guys …. Lets be having you !!

Midweek social rides

Each Wednesday and Thursday ride leaders organise evening rides departing from Adel at 6.30 and arriving back at a pub (for some social reason) – extremely popular with members allowing us all to keep our legs turning over before some slightly longer weekend rides.

Weekend rides

Every weekend rides are organised on both Saturdays and Sundays from the ever popular Bolton Abbey Social on a Saturday to the slightly more gruelling A rides taking in ‘small’ climbs such as Park Rash or Cragg Vale. There are rides for everyone!!

Here are some more pictures from this months rides.

Alba Youth team

For those with young children then be aware that we have a blossoming youth team who regularly take part in races ‘all over the place’

Alba Cycling Holiday

We even organised an Alba trip to the Alps to take in some non-Yorkshire hills – some very brave souls. I think they averaged over 8000’ of climbing a day so well done to all those who had the joys of returning to Yorkshire to do some flat rides

Coming soon

What do we have coming up then ? …. Well apart from the usual …
