Club Rides

We run regular social rides and training rides throughout the week to suit a wide range of abilities. Up till Oct we're following our summer club schedule:

Practicalities

All club rides start outside the Adel Sports & Social Club (Google Maps Link), the group of bikes should be obvious!

These rides are for members only. If you're new to the club you're welcome to join the Saturday Social to give us a try and say hello, but please email [email protected] first to let us know to expect you.

Saturday Social

Ascent 1800ft
Speed 13mph+

Our weekly Saturday social ride follows more-or-less the same route each week to Cavendish Pavilion at Bolton Abbey via the back roads of Otley and Ilkley (although we may take the main roads in poor weather conditions). The Saturday social is for anyone and not restricted to club members. Bring your friends, family and colleagues and introduce them to the ARCC crowd! 9.00am every Saturday, meet at the Adel Sports & Social Club.

Sunday Social: A Ride

Speed 16-20mph

Sunday Social: B Ride

Length 65 miles max
Ascent 5000ft max
Speed 14-16mph

The staple club ride: with the Yorkshire Dales on our doorstep there is a huge variety of routes at this distance and your ride leader will take you on their own style of social adventure. Route and availability depends on ride leaders: check the members Facebook group.

Sunday Social: C Ride

Speed 13-14mph

The beginner club ride: even with the shorter distance there is still a lot of route variety possible. Route and availability depends on ride leaders: check the members Facebook group.

Tuesday Chaingang/Paceline

Length 25-30 miles
Speed 20-24mph

Due to numbers of riders attending we usually split into groups. The slowest group (and last to set off) will aim to average 32kph (20mph). The fastest group will average 38-40kph (24+ mph). At minimum, for the last group, we would expect you to be able to do the route to Ilkley and back at 18mph/29kph solo.

If you are new to group riding please let someone know when you turn up and start with one of the slower groups to learn how the chaingang/paceline works. The standard route goes from Adel along the A660 to Addingham (https://www.strava.com/routes/6178785). We'll stay as a disciplined group until the Chevin on the way back when it's each for their own until regrouping at the Dynley Arms.

Saturday Training Ride

Saturday training is designed for our more competitive club members. These rides come in various forms, but will typically last between 2 and 4 hours covering between 30 and 60 miles.

Wednesday Caffeine Ride

Starting with a coffee at our Leeds City Centre hub, La Bottega Milanese, followed by a flat & fast blast out East.

Weds/Thurs Evening Socials

Social evening rides at C and B pace respectively ending with a swift pint. Route and availability depends on ride leaders: check the members Facebook group.
